I'm not dead or anything, I just got back from studying in Ireland and have a lot of work to finish up before Sneak Peak.

So here's a sneak peak!

Some updates

Spent the day working on the Tillinghast Resonator (v.4) that's being shipped to Ireland in less than a month. In the process, I'm using new motors that are higher power, higher efficiency, and quieter. The results were so improved that I switched out the tech from the Tillinghast Resonator (v.2) to equal it. Anyway, here's the updated and completed v.4

So here's another long awaited update. I've done two more pieces for my H.P. Lovecraft series. The pictures aren't the best, but they're a good sneak peek.

Here's some simple concept stuff I've been working on

When I say "lit painting" I refer to this method below... This is my Azathoth painting, which all other paintings will be made to match. The lighting is inside the painting, glowing in specific places.

Been working hard on a sculpture involving H.P. Lovecraft for my installation of insanity.

This piece is a dissected Elder Thing (At the Mountains of Madness)

Of course, it's a young one. The carapace is made of polymer clay. The innards, pseudopod, and head are sculpted in clay and cast in silicone, so it'll feel very real.

A long awaited update

So with winter over and my research near-completed, I have decided to make a post about my current project. Admittedly, this post will be pretty vague, but it's a post none-the-less.

At last semester's critique, two statements were made that I fundamentally disagree with:
1.) Art is not a science
2.) Concept leads to technique

Add this to the revelation that my artwork, no matter what, concerns telling stories, I have been facing a new interpretation of my own methods.

Because of my disagreements, I'm working on a project to showcase both science and technique as high forms of art. In line with me recent musings about how I miss telling stories, I have aimed for the modern lord of horror, H.P. Lovecraft.

This project will seek to utilize multiple forms of science (psychology, physics, biology, neuropsychology, engineering, and aesthetics) to deliver an intense and (hopefully) horrifying experience.

To introduce this project, I'm doing something I don't usually do; showing some concept art and design specs for this project!

First is the Tillinghast Resonator (From Beyond) and the second is a Deep One Priest of Dagon (The Shadow Over Innsmouth)

My newest animation is finally complete! It's an animation about the process of choosing what concepts to address in artwork, and how to technically address them. Often times, self-induced limitations, parameters, and rules become the soul of the final product itself.
